Implementing the CP7 Building and Architecture Policy to help achieve a carbon neutral built environment enabling Mobility as a Service.

This programme is an introduction into how CP7 Building and Architecture Policy can support you in saving time and money with the Network Rail assets that you manage.

Programme timeline

  • Initial online workshops provided participants an opportunity to flag the challenges they face, including barriers to policy uptake. The insights from these sessions shaped the Masterclass content and made sure issues identified would be addressed.

  • Face to face session in London, exploring the use of CP7 Building and Architecture Policy through practical exercises and collaboration and making valuable connections with fellow Asset Managers from across the country.

  • Engaging group activities designed to embed the CP7 Building and Architecture Policy in current ways of working. This period will be supplemented with a check-in coaching call with a design expert.

  • Online sessions for groups to present their work and experience with the new tools and design approach to a senior team from Network Rail.

 

About the programme

Network Rail is looking to place design thinking at the heart of their operations, helping them deliver on their long-term vision of a carbon neutral built environment enabling Mobility as a Service. 

The CP7 Building and Architecture Policy outline significant changes to Network Rail’s business-as-usual approach. This programme aims to provide support to the managers responsible for enacting these visions by increasing understanding of the 4S’s as well as providing the opportunity to explore how this relates to their role within the built environment process.

About Design Council

Design Council is the UK Government’s advisor on design and provides impartial strategic advice and practical support to local and national Government and their agencies to embed design and citizen engagement in their work.

Since 2017, Design Council has worked closely with the Network Rail Buildings and Architecture team to enhance design quality through the Design Advice Panel and bespoke design support projects like the Inclusive Design Programme, ThinkStation, and ExploreStation.
